Steelpump Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I buy a Steelpump?

The Steelpumps are the largest range of high quality submersible pumps on the market with an in-built controller.
They are built for a long life with high quality parts, and are individually tested.
In addition, and unlike most pumps, there is total availability of spares, and a full repair service should your pump be damaged.

What is the in-built controller for?

A pressure controlled pump supplies water on demand.
When you stop taking water the pressure in the outlet is detected, and the pump stops, waiting for the pressure to drop again at which time it will resume pumping.
A pressure controlled pump is designed to conserve water, unlike typical pumps which are primarily intended to dispose of excess water.
This makes it ideal for rainwater use, irrigation, and some commercial applications.

Which Steelpump will suit my needs?

The range of Steelpumps suit different applications.
To match your flow and pressure requirements please see the pump curves on pump comparison chart
The body type of the pump is also a factor.

What are the differences between body types P, B, and STD?

The materials from which the pumps are constructed dictate their durability and life expectancy.

P body types have both front and rear housings from plastic, and double silicon seals.
They are ideal for garden and domestic use.

B body types have a Steel front housing for increased durability.
Ideal for portable use and light commercial applications.

STD body types have the full steel housing, high quality ceramic-graphite seals and stronger internal flanges/bearing slots. These are designed for high usage applications.

What are the differences between power ratings?

A higher powered pump produces both increased flow and pressure.

Single and multi stage?

A multi-stage pump has multiple impellers, giving a higher flow than a single-stage pump of the same power rating, but generating less pressure.
To achieve both flow and pressure it is often best to choose a high powered multi-stage pump.
Please view the pump comparison chart to select the right pump for your needs.
